One of the hottest new SUVs for 2012 is the new edition of the Chevrolet Orlando. The Orlando is being introduced in Canada for the season. There had been plans on releasing it in the United States but those have been put on hold for the time being. It is not clear as to when, let alone if, the vehicle will come out to America.

This will be a vehicle that Americans will be asking for thanks to the features that people in Canada will begin to experience and enjoy. The 2012 Chevrolet Orlando is a 7 seat SUV that can do more on the road and drive efficiently without any issues getting in the way of how it is run. This is one of the most impressive vehicles for anyone to think about or to at least speculate about with regards to whether or not it will come out in the United States any time soon.

2012 Chevrolet Orlando – Fuel Economy is Strong

A big reason why the Chevrolet Orlando 2012 is one of the new SUVs for 2012 in Canada is because the gas prices in Canada have become incredibly expensive. People are paying at least $1.15 per litre for fuel in most parts of Canada. Fortunately, the 2012 Orlando is out to help people out who need assistance with getting cars to be a little more affordable to operate.

The vehicle has a 174 hp Ecotech engine. This is a 2.4L engine that works to carefully keep the vehicle under control with four cylinders of power, thus using less fuel while at the same time getting around quickly with a six speed automatic transmission.

The fuel economy for the vehicle is 6.7L per 100 km on the highway. This makes for one of the top fuel ratings among all seven seat SUVs.

Chevrolet Orlando is Great to Drive

The ability to drive the Orlando around carefully is a great thing to find here. The 2012 Chevy Orlando can handle many features like traction control and Stabilitrak Electronic Stability Control to keep the vehicle managed carefully.

The vehicle also has a comfortable design that makes it easier for such a large vehicle to move around in tight spots. It has a size that is about two inches longer than the Chevrolet Cruze, the longest small sedan that the company already makes. Part of this comes from the smaller engine but it is still easy to manage.

How Seven People are Managed

The way how this car can handle seven people is a great thing to see. This car uses second row seats that can be folded upward to make it easier for people to get into the third row. In fact, the seats can be folded back and forth as needed with all parts going back or forward as needed.

The second and third rows have plenty of cupholders around the doors. The third row has two seats while the second row has three. However, the third row is better suited for smaller people and children alike.

The best thing about these rows of seats is that they are elevated. The third row is slightly higher up but the second row is still up higher than the first. This is used to make it easier for people to see what is in the back of the car. It also makes it easier for the passengers to look around the outside of the car without risking any problems from a lack of headroom in the area.

Of course, these seats can be folded all the way down if they need to be pushed down. This should not be much of a challenge to handle when getting things ready.

What Unique Things are There?

One of the reasons why the Orlando is one of the best new SUVs for 2012 is that it comes with a few special features that make it a little more unique:

  • The Child-View Mirror can come down at the top of the front row. This is used to create a clear view of the vehicle to make it easier for a parent to see what is in the back rows. It is used to create something useful.
  • All seats have a headrest. This is used to keep all people comfortable and to create the same level of security on a car.
  • There are a few hidden compartments around an area. These include such things as a spot under the radio faceplate. This is used to hide things like a digital music player that can be plugged into the audio output on the car.
  • The child safety seats can be prepared properly with an easy to handle system. The LATCH System works with a series of fasteners to make it easier for the seat to be secured in a spot as quickly as possible.
  • Sensors are used in the vehicle’s walls to monitor what happens in the event of a wreck. This includes making sure that doors are unlocked and the pedals will be released back to ensure that injuries can be avoided as needed.

What is the Price?

The cost of the 2012 Chevrolet Orlando should be relatively easy for people in Canada to afford. Chevrolet is offering the cheapest version of this 7 seat SUV at around $24,000 CAD.

This will be up to $30,000 in some of its more advanced forms. This will come with some additional features like heated front seats, six speakers around the body of the car and an automatic climate control features.

It is not fully clear as to whether or not this vehicle is actually going to get into the United States. However, the fact that it is available in Canada should make it a bigger possibility that it will come to the States. The constant rise of gas prices should make it to where the United States may get this car in the future but it is not clear as to what will end up happening. The 2012 Chevrolet Orlando will be one of the new SUVs for 2012 to keep a close eye out on to see where it will be offered at in the future.
