The Land Rover LR4, which is also known in some markets as the Land Rover Discovery, is one of the British company’s top seven seat cars. This SUV is noticeable at first for its intriguing exterior. However, the qualities that especially need to be seen inside the LR4 come from inside the vehicle and underneath the hood for all people in the car to enjoy.

The First Features

The design in the 2012 Land Rover LR4 is the first thing for a person to see. The vehicle is noted for featuring a strong design that includes a back window that is separate from the windows in the first and second row. This even includes a slight angle at the back of the window to create an additional detail.

The grille features a series of bars and creates a nice appearance to it. Meanwhile, the glass is properly tinted to create something that is secure and will give all people inside the vehicle privacy.

The outside materials are also interesting to see with regards to functionality. The halogen headlights are very bright while the wipers can active as they sense rain. Even the rear glass is heated and can be wiped off automatically.

The nineteen inch wheels on the LR4 are also attractive. A twenty inch option can also be used. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System will be used to keep the vehicle functioning properly.

Seating Points

The seats in the LR4 work with three rows. The first row has two seats that include comfortable bucket designs. The second row features three seats that are divided in a 35/30/35 arrangement. The two seats in the third row can be pulled up or down as needed. The back row seats are built different from the other two rows because the sixth and seventh seats may not be used as often but it can still work effectively.

The second and third rows can take advantage of many features but they will get more things in the Comfort Package. This optional package for the LR4 features side curtain airbags that work on all rows and a rear net for luggage use. A climate control system can also work in the second row to help create heat or air in the second and third rows.

The room in the first row is much greater than in other rows. There is a measurement of 42.4 inches of legroom and 59.2 inches of shoulder room here. Meanwhile, the second row has 37.6 inches legroom and 59 inches shoulder room. The third row has 36.3 inches legroom but only 42.8 inches shoulder room.

Interestingly enough, the second row is the one that has the most headroom. It has 42.4 inches of headroom. This is two inches more than what is used in the other two rows. Naturally, the design on the top of the vehicle makes it so it can handle more headroom.

Motor Along

The engine for the 2012 LR4 is one of the strongest engines for 7 seater SUVs. It is a 5.0L V8 that uses a six speed automatic transmission. The key to the engine is its Commandshift function. This shifts the vehicle in accordance to how the driver is moving the car around. It changes the format of the engine to help with ensuring that the vehicle is easier to drive.

The engine even uses controls to help with ensuring that the engine is adjusted properly in the event of downhill driving. The Hill Descent Control function will work to help control the vehicle to help keep it slowed down without worrying about braking or even accelerating the vehicle in the event that the terrain it is in gets to be rough.

One thing to note is that it takes 7.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph in this car. It can also go around 120 mph.

An Electronic Suspension is Used Here

The suspension in the LR4 is very strong. It uses an electronic air suspension to assist all parts of the vehicle and to keep it functioning properly.

Dynamic Stability Control is used here to help review the ways how the wheels are moving when turning or accelerating. The DSC will then put brakes on the proper wheels when needed. The engine’s power can also be cut down with the Roll Stability Control feature in the event that the vehicle is in danger of tipping and rolling over.

It should be noted that this seven seat SUV has a 37.2 degree approach angle and a 27.9 degree ramp angle. These measurements should be reviewed for off-road purposes. The vehicle can also get into up to 25 inches of water. This should be enough to help with ensuring that the vehicle can move through some watery areas but it helps to use discretion in doing so.

Interesting Safety Features

The safety features that come with this seven seat SUV include a few special technologies. There are seat belt warnings that remind a person to put on one’s seat belt in the event that it is not on. Anti-lock brakes are also used along with an alarm system.

The Electronic Parking Brake is one feature that is very unique. This safety feature consists of a simple button. This is used to set up the vehicle by helping to make it easier for the parking brake to move up or down. It works particularly well when dealing with hill starts that it might be too much of a challenge to get something prepared. The EPB can also be released if the driver simply drives the vehicle away. This is needed to keep the vehicle a little more functional without any issues.

Appealing Entertainment Features

The entertainment items that come with the LR4 come in many forms. The vehicle comes with a seven inch touchscreen on the dashboard. This works to give the user access to a series of controls for the vehicles.

The steering wheel comes with a variety of controls to give the person to ability to adjust the car based on what the user needs. There are controls to adjust the sound system and Bluetooth controls. These work to keep the vehicle operating properly without the user having to move one’s hands from the wheel.
